WE are witnessing the earliest development of cybernetic enhancement of human ability [on a public stage].
Already the wiring of computer chips into the brain has enabled people to regain a modicum of sight. There are many examples of electrical devices correcting medical conditions.
The development of IMPROVED perception and ability is though fairly recent. Imagine sight in x rays/ infra red, touch temperature readout, body extension (direct brain to robot command with sensory feedback), mechanical limbs. Science fiction becoming reality.
So, a brain encased in protective whatever, commanding spaceship functions literally becoming a living spaceship requiring minimal biological life support. Experiments linking calculators to the brain are already reality {I think ..can't remember whether it is planned or underway}.
Imagine direct integration with powerful computing in YOUR brain and perception.. Wow! Trees (lol bear with me) living for thousands of years (Giant Redwood) will have a different time perception... compute... what's a few light years.
Add in nano technology and maybe a superhuman could be reduced to a few inches (assuming a personality/whatever we are, could be transferred in a computer program obviating the need for biology altogether)
It's still life! But not as we know it Jim. It cannot be avoided. The paralympics are just the start. Enhanced people games will start and replace the 'ordinary' Olympics. Paralympics will be the main force. LOL pity I'll be dead soon (relatively).
