Technology gone mad? or is there a common pathway in aerodynamics that will not allow designers to over step the mark in developing machines that fly. It seems that beautiful designs are achievable to a certain point, and from then on only ugly, monstrous and cumbersome aircraft can be created from the drawing board. The Airbus A 390 Take the Airbus A 390, a cumbersome monster visualized my this European manufacturer. Here we have a machine that really packs them in. Too big and too slow some say, too ugly and too many lives at risk if something goes wrong. The Goose Naming this aircraft "The Goose" could not have been more appropriate, There must be a long way for cabin crew to walk from passengers to pilots in this monstrosity. The 18 engine airplane Then we have a machine with 18 engines - whatever for? Surely this must be a short range aircraft, and what about that noise on take -off. With fuel costs as they are today, how could an airline possibly make a profit from an aircraft like this. One wonders what they will come up with in the next 50 years.
