This is the Ettamogah pub, a popular drinking place on the Bruce highway north of Brisbane. This highway is 1,056 miles long and parts of it was made by General MacArthur during WW2. If the Japanese had invaded Australia, MacArthur was to told them at the "Brisbane line", a massive fortification few people know about even today. He built the highway in open spaces so the Japanese would be compelled to use it, and their supply lines would be attacked by air all the way down - the full 1,000 miles, to the Brisbane line. Luckily, after Midway and the battle of the Coral sea, the Japanese carrier fleet was so decimated that it put an end to any invasion. Rosetta nebula

I see Russia just dumped 3 new GPS satellites into the Pacific Ocean after the launch vehicle failed.
Then today, a commercial consortium orbited a private space vehicle into orbit. This could well be the commercial replacement for Shuttle for the future.

I would think that after 53 years the Russians would have this satellite launch thing down cold. Unusual that three failures occured for three attempts...

Yes, seeing that their Soyuz amd Progress spacecraft are so efficient, it is unusual. By the way, thanks tor that NASA website R.J. The Tarantula

Not 3 attempts, Iron. All 3 satellites were on a single launch vehicle. Not sure which stage failed, but some Pacific fishermen will probably find a big surprise in their nets one day. I am still trying to figure out what that 6 month classified mission of the U37B was all about. They landed it couple of weeks ago at Vandy. Since it was a Boeing craft; perhaps Iron could give us some insight into its purpose. Orbital Science's is also quietly putting all sorts of things into orbit from its site at Wallops Island; but you never hear anything about them.
