Just yesterday, scientists gave final approval to the design format and software capabilities of the rocket that will take Astronauts back to the Moon by 2020, this time for a six month stay to pave the way for longer missions and to develop those technologies that will take us to Mars, sometime this century. The Orion spacecraft One would think and hope that this great space adventure would attract the participation of other great nations such as Russia as well as the Chinese for the sake of world peace, but the hopes of mankind is not to be. NASA believes that China will be on the Moon before the American landing and seems not to be too worried if that proves to be the case. The main thing, of course, is the advancement of humankind into the cosmos,to cement our place as space pioneers, to go where no man has been before and to colonize other star systems - true nomads of the Universe. Interesting read Henry. I hope that the powers that be don't lose sight of the real objectives of the mission - such as to find out more about the early solar system formation, in their respective bids to 'see who gets there first'. Anything that paves the way to an expedition to Mars has to be most welcome.
