Are we alone - Space and time The Hubble space Telescope The Hubble Space Telescope, with its wide field observations. has presented to us the new age of Astonomy, taking astronomers deeper into the cosmos than ever before, giving us new scientific material to better understand the formation of galactic structures and intensifying the debate pertaining to the Big Bang theory. every dot is a galaxy Within the next decade we will see the James Webb Telescope come on line. the James Webb telescope This state of the art instument, deployed a million miles from Earth, will take us almost to the beginning of time itself and may enable Astronomers to be more enlightened in their beliefs that the Big Bang as we know it, may have been initiated by the presence of another Universe. The existane of which may stimulate us to believe that we, as humankind, and our Universe are not alone in space and time. Maybe the James Webb will help solve another Mystery puzzling Astronomers - Why is there giant fully formed galaxies so far away at distancs where they should not be, themselves taking billions of years to evolve. Are they from this other universe responsible for the Big Bang? With the James Webb, we may have this answer in our lifetime. credits: Hubble: A NASA Hubble image The Galaxies: A NASA Hubble image James Webb telescope: A NASA image

Nice to see you back posting again after your recent poor health, Henry.
The number of 'dots' in that second image just goes to show how insignificant we are in the greater scheme of things.
To answer your question in this thread title - i.e. 'Are We Alone?' I can only repeat that we would have to be a very arrogant race to believe that there are not intelligent life forms out there.
Possibly one day I may be proved right - but not in my lifetime, I fear.
Thanks again for the post Henry.
